Kissel Stop Cafe

Reviews

Here are some reviews Kissel Stop Cafe has received in recent years:

WV Dept of Commerce -
A pleasant staff and inviting atmosphere are just two reasons the Kissel Stop Café is a great gathering place. The third is the delicious food, including the restaurant’s well-known homemade chicken salad.  Housed in the original 1896 Opera House, the Kissel Stop Café is an Elkins must-see location.

I've sampled coffeehouses in cities from Minneapolis to Pittsburgh and enjoyed the coffee and atmosphere in the nearly dozen cafes along State St. in Madison, WI, and the Kissel Stop is the equal of any of them. The americanos I've ordered are perfect, the baristas are friendly and efficient, and the rueben I had for lunch recently was wonderful. I particularly appreciated the fact that their wireless Internet connection was fast and reliable - no small feat, given their relatively "off the beaten path" location in West Virginia.

Best chicken salad sandwich I have ever ate. The atmosphere is the greatest. Wish I could eat there every day. The Elkins area is so fortunate to have such a wonderful restaurant.

The Kissel Stop is the first place I stop when I come to Elkins, WV. Jay and Sandy exemplify hospitality in a courteous and comfortable environment. The Kissel Stop is my "coming home" welcome to sign as I drive into town.
I love the town of Elkins and and when I retire from the state of North Carolina, I hope to call Elkins my real home. What could be more pleasurable than eating in an atmosphere of home. The food is delicious and in the 5 or so years I've eaten there, the food has always been exceptional. Best wishes to a continued prosperous business.

I have always said Kissel Stop is the Cheers of West Virginia. Not only is the food fantastic and served with care, not only is the atmosphere relaxing, but Kissel Stop is the place to meet up with old friends and make new ones. There isn't a customer who comes through that door whose name and face isn't known, or isn't treated like a dear friend. Even newcomers are immediately welcomed with a smiling face and a place they're always welcome. Kissel Stop has truly been home to me since it opened in 2003, and the owners quickly became great friends. If you're looking for a place to eat where you'll be treated as a total stranger, do not come here!

What a great place to relax and enjoy great food. Of course the service can't be beat. They make you feel right at home. It is nice when your from another state. Great prices in today's economy

Kissel Stop has the area's market cornered on cute coffee shops with yummy food, tasty coffee, and a funky/fun ambiance. My husband and I were desperately searching the downtown Elkins area for someplace we could get a (quality) sandwich at 3:00 p.m. in late October, and Kissel Stop fit the bill perfectly. :) Don't miss it if you're in the area!

This is not a grocery store, but a breakfast and lunch cafe. They have many coffees and teas and wonderful lunches. There are also many pasteries and other goodies!

Great little cafe with a cozy atmosphere. They had great breakfast sandwiches made to order and tasty danish. I really enjoyed the mocha I had to drink with my breakfast. Was like desert and breakfast together. The workers were really cool and nice too. We'll definitely be back the next time we are in Elkins!
